Some things remain the same despite technology development

In less than 20 years, the way in which the typically ‘face to face’ events industry works has evolved due to the advancement of technology.

The event industry has been one of the industries that has seen the most radical change in the way in which it operates. Not just the way in which events are planned, but the way in which they are experienced by attendees is completely different.

All the processes have witnessed an evolution, from the planning stage, marketing stage and production stage to the execution and post-event stage.

If you had to time travel to 20 years ago to plan an event, after witnessing the event planning process of today, you would think that the world of 20 years ago was a filled with injustice and suffering.

But although the process may have changed, the main values and function of types events has not changed.

Events continue to do the following:

1. Inspire collaboration and innovation
2. Support and garner support for a cause
3. Knowledge and skill sharing
4. Promote interdependence in industry
