We asked businesswoman, Thabile Nomlala to share her thoughts about best and worst trends and if it is important to follow technology and trends in the events industry.
The new and young entrepreneur had this to say:
Social media more specifically twitter, instead of using hardcopy advertisements and billboards, people now use social media and influencers to promote their events. Social media is more effective, reaches more audiences and potential attendees.
Billboards are still important, but they are slowly being left behind with the years. However, if you have a bad reputation, your event could easily be boycotted. I feel that it’s important for organisers and promoters to advertise more on social media.
The truth is technology can’t make a bad event great regardless of how you use it, but the opportunities that come with it are truly boundless. With 4th industrial revolution approaching, a different league will be set in the industry and competition is getting more steep amongst entrepreneurs.
As technology evolves, it will require every organiser to study their audience and target market before planning an event to avoid failure.
