Johannesburg- With all the chats going around that Hip-Hop is dead, Phumlane “Fakaloice”
Zondo made it his business to defend the genre, and he teamed up with the best in the
game to prove everyone wrong. The producer, songwriter and rapper released a new song
titled Ooh Aah featuring the late Riky Rick and Cassper Nyovest. It is safe to say SA Hip-
Hop is not dead!
The song is a blend of Hip-Hop and Trap, and it started as a free style for Fakaloice hence
the hook is repetitive, but the 28-year-old saw it fit to add more verses, and that is how Riky
Rick and Cassper Nyovest came in with thrilling energy.
The Ambitiouz Entertainment artist, who has released songs such as Konakele, Your Son
and Ang’zazi says he has mixed emotions with regards to the release of Ooh Aah.
“I am happy and nervous at the same time; this song is too big as it features legends
who are respected in the game. I am living every up-and-coming artist’s dream. One
thing I know for sure is that this is what the Hip-Hop streets needed, and people will
love it,” he says.
“I met Riky in 2020 in Durban and we spoke, then he gave me his verse and then we
also got Cassper in it, then I felt like it was ready for a release.”
The single was produced by Fakaloice and written by him, Riky Rick, Kid Tini as well
as Cassper Nyovest. Each verse in the song is proof enough that Hip-Hop is still
very much alive, you just need to find the right music to indulge in.
Released on Friday, 01 July, Ooh Aah debuted on top ten of all genres on iTunes,
and it is available on every streaming platform.
